It’s a great privilege to be able to speak to another member of the tech team and today, we introduce you to our Front End Developer, representing all the Tech Girls out there, Zaakirah Hoosain. We hardly ever get to hear from these members of our team as they are tucked away behind the scenes, busily working on the insides of the Placement Partner organism.
Zaakirah, affectionately known as Zaakie, tells us a little bit about the unique part she plays in the team and why this job is so meaningful to her –
What do you enjoy most about your role in Placement Partner?
I started with the team about 3 years ago as the Front End Dev and what I really love about my role is that I have the opportunity to express my ideas and share my opinions on the User Experience(UX) as well as the ‘Look and Feel’ of the system. It’s great to be part of a team who is so open to change and always looking to improve the system for the benefit of our users. We as a team are always looking for ways to build a really great system – Not only for our personal pride, but to help our clients in streamlining their recruitment process.
It’s quite clear to see that over the last 20 years, there has constantly been a drive from this team to keep innovating, offering new tools and changing with the Recruitment Industry, often putting in lots of extra hours and extra effort!
What do you think about and focus on when you are working on the UX?
Most of all, I try to get into the users’ heads, which in this case is Recruiters. I consider what is most important for them, what they’d like to see and I always try to simplify the data capturing process as I know this is a major pain point for our clients. The main aim is to make the system user-friendly and effortless to work with.
What sneaky insights can you give us into what you are currently working on?
I’ll keep it short and sweet as I don’t want to spoil the surprise! But I can tell you that the new V8 system is going to become a part of your lifestyle which you as a Recruiter cannot live without.
Many of you may not know this, but the Tech Team is even keeping us (The Marketing Team) somewhat in the dark! We’re as curious as our clients are and we just can’t wait to see the finished product! If you could give our clients a Top Tip on how to maximise Placement Partner, what would it be?
Most of all, I would advise every one of our clients to take some time and really get to know the system. Make use of all the features available to you to improve your recruitment process.
Also, try to capture as much of your information upfront as possible. This is really such a massive timesaver further down the line! Many people are a bit scared of software and Recruiters, being ‘people-persons’ often struggle with the admin side of the job. This system is designed to make the admin side as simple and painless as possible – All it takes is for you to get comfortable with using it, all day every day. Make PP your best friend!
Getting to know the system well and using each and every tool available to you actually frees up more of your time for the parts of the job you really love – Working with people and making an impact in the world.
