In this week’s interview, Shirley Anderson speaks to another member of the team to bring you more valuable insights. Calvin Beukes, Sales and Training Consultant at our Cape Town office, sets out to share some positivity and light as we, as a team, strive to encourage all South African Recruiters to KEEP GOING.
What has your biggest struggle been during the Covid19 Lockdown?
FRIDGE FEVER! lol
On a serious note, Calvin says he has found that working from home, distraction has been his greatest challenge in trying to be productive. It has become impossible to separate personal life and work life and there seem to be a million things going on all at the same time these days. The demands of our personal lives seem to be spilling over into our work, sometimes right in the middle of a Zoom call.
What have you found to be the most helpful thing in overcoming this challenge in particular?
Calvin has come up with what he calls the FFS strategy – Which is Faith, Focus and Support. In his opinion, those are the most important tools to help him keep going. Faith to carry on, even when the future seems daunting; Focusing on doing the small things right everyday; And having a great team at work who you can turn to for Support when things get tough.
It’s also important to remember all the wonderful positives we have to be grateful for. Although it is distracting and frustrating at times, we need to remember how lucky we are to be able to do what we love in the comfort of our own homes and enjoy all the extra time we have to spend with our families too.
As a Sales and Training Consultant with Placement Partner, how have you been actively supporting your clients and spreading the light at this time?
The main thing has been staying in contact. Many recruiters are feeling uncertain and don’t really know how to carry on working at the moment. We have been making an effort to get in touch and show those recruiters that Placement Partner enables you to keep sourcing great candidates and keep preparing for future placements. We pride ourselves on being available to our clients, whenever they need us and whatever their challenges may be.
What is your top tip to all recruiters on how to KEEP GOING?
There are a lot of opportunities out there. A lot of companies are doing well during this time and there is no reason why you can’t be one of them. Keep at it and don’t give up the fight. If you need any assistance or are having difficulty in any particular area then use the support which is available to you and get in touch with us. We have a wealth of experience, exposure to the market, and great insights which we would love to share with each of our clients.
Also, don’t lose sight of the fact that, as members of the Recruitment Industry, we are dealing with peoples’ destinies. Focus on the amazing impact that you have on the world around you and remember how much you are helping other people.
Don’t get lost in the busy world, rather focus on what is in your control and turn your attention to the opportunities, not the problems. And lastly, but most importantly, find your purpose amongst the noise too and remind yourself why you chose this remarkable vocation in the first place.
